Introduced in 1966, the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 trainers were the first ever shoes to feature the now-famous Tiger Stripes. They were worn at the Mexico Olympic Games in 1968.
This particular Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 trainer features a striking yellow upper with trademark ASICS/Onitsuka side stripes in black leather. The classic ‘Tiger’ logo comes in black on a yellow heel tab. Matching yellow seude toe protector and slim yellow synthetic sole. This colourway was made famous across the world thanks to the ”Kill Bill” films.
In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka founded Onitsuka Tiger, the forerunner of ASICS today. Mr. Onitsuka passionately believed that sport not only reinforced the physical health, it also taught young people to observe rules, discipline and manners. Since Onitsuka Tiger began back in 1949, it has gone on to become an iconic, global ‘sports-fashion brand with a unique Japanese sports heritage.
Today Onitsuka Tiger represents the forward-looking face of modern, metropolitan Japan.
